Ruven

Ruven is an Arkaine set in the Arkaine Prism Realm, with occasional adventures to The Golden Tether on Furcadia. If you participate in either of these settings I'm more than happy to talk plots with you!

Please be aware that all plots are fluid and can be deviated from at any point if major changes happen in either characters life, or if we cannot seem to progress things due to the constraints of availability!

Ruven deals with adult themes and will not be played with minor characters or minor players. Please refrain from messaging to ask if we can do one-off sex scenes; I am not interested.

Childhood is said to pass us by in the blink of an eye. For Arkaine children, the sentiment isn't quite so true with their childhood ticking by just a little slower than the average species. For Ruven, it was grueling and long. At first it was a burning flame of joy and wonder, endless days of laughter and bright eyes and trying to find ways around his parents rules. What child didn't wish the rules would go away? And then one day they did. Except it wasn't just the rules. Everything changed. There were no longer parents to enforce the rules. Ruven tries not to remember their blood on the ground, or the piercing shrieks of those fighting to survive. One by one they fell, and that burning joy was smothered, smoke filtering into that of the burning buildings around him.

Ruven lost his rules that day, but he also lost his home, his family, and his freedom.

Enslaved alongside his people, Ruven found himself shipped off to a strange new land and swiftly up on the auction block. Sold to the highest bidder, things looked grim... and yet somehow he held onto that last little flickering flame and fanned it. With nothing but sorrow around him, Ruven spent his youth doing his best to be the beacon of hope among his remaining people. With soft smiles and quiet jokes, he kept himself both sane and as seemingly happy as possible. Tentative friendships were forged and ripped away with each passing year, but without that little dash of joy he wouldn't have been able to survive and he knew it.

He spent his time being useful, because a useful slave was a well kept one. Ruven had a knack for finding things. Exploration came easy, though of course always under watchful eyes. He became a bit of a sneak, learned how to wander through corridors undetected and look unaware at parties in his chains. He learned to map terrain and discover hidden routes. It was not the best life, but it was better than most in his situation could hope for and he wasn't foolish enough to complain.

Although many friendships were short lived, a fellow Arkaine in his household was always there. Together they kept each other going, and eventually when his friend won his own freedom in the arena, he struck a bargain with their master to stay on and win Ruven's as well. When eventually they left the household it was together, and Ruven decided that his adventures would no longer have the strict compass of before. He would live everyday as a new expedition, and he would do it with Kyrenic at his side.
